Vermilion Flycatcher

Another little friend from Central/South America, the Vermilion Flycatcher. This little piece is only 7 x 7 inches. The challenge of this project is actually what ostensibly should have made it easy: it's only two colors. It was a challenge to give this little guy dimension while being true to his color scheme. Hopefully I pulled it off. This is why I don't do panda mosaics.

Kara, thanks for visiting me again. I'll add your blog to my art sites list. Isn't Laurel True wonderful? I love the mosaic sofa! I want one (outside).

Lovely birds. I've been thinking about birds a lot lately. My father, who died two years ago, was a life-long bird watcher, and I've been wanting to make a mosaic bird window in his memory.

Also, I have access to lots of FREE stained glass (through a deal with a local stained-glass factory). If you like, next time I drive up to the NYC area (some of my family lives there) I can drop a box or two off for you.
